Night at the Opera Midi Sounds

Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore served as the musical backdrop to A Night at the Opera , only to be unceremoniously lampooned by the antics of the Marx Brothers. Here are some midi files from Verdi's classical work, along with a still from the scene.

The Anvil Chorus ( Vedi le fosche notturne ). Arranged by C. Ikenoue. Fiorello (Chico Marx) handles the anvil at the chorus. 54K

Stride la Vampa . Tomasso (Harpo Marx) and Fiorello have infiltrated the stage, and now the challenge lies with Gottlieb (Siegfried Rumann) and the police force to remove them without ruining the opera. 14K

Miserere . Lassparri (Walter W. King) has mysteriously disappeared, and Gottlieb must get a replacement tenor - in a hurry. Luckily, Baroni (Alan Jones) agrees to sing, on condition that Rosa (Kitty Carlisle) is permitted to accompany him in the lead role. Gottlieb agrees. 74K

Di Quella Pira (arranged by Marco Milano). Tomasso causes havoc as he rips through the scenery during the performance. Dropping wild pieces of scenery onto the stage during Lassparri's performance didn't help matters, either. 37K
